Privatization of the U.S. Postal Service is no longer a distant threat — it's at our doorstep. Powerful financial interests want to sell off the Postal Service, raise prices, and gut rural service. Tell Congress: Stand with rural America and keep the Postal Service public!

To the Members of the United States Congress:

We, the undersigned residents, business owners, and advocates for rural communities, call on you to take immediate and decisive action to protect the United States Postal Service (USPS) from privatization.

In recent months, powerful financial interests and policymakers have made their intentions clear. A newly surfaced memo from Wells Fargo outlines a predatory plan: sell off the most profitable parts of the Postal Service, raise prices by as much as 140%, slash union jobs, and strip away the benefits and bargaining rights of the people who serve this nation every day. Under the current administration, which has already signaled a willingness to move the Postal Service under the Department of Commerce, privatization is no longer a distant threat—it’s a real and present danger.

If the Postal Service is privatized, rural communities will face increased delivery costs, reduced service, and job losses—outcomes that disproportionately harm regions already underserved by private infrastructure. Thousands of rural letter carriers would also face the loss of job security, good union benefits, and the ability to serve their communities with dignity. Privatized service structures will prioritize profitability over equity, meaning areas deemed "unprofitable" could be cut off or priced out.

We respectfully demand that you:

  • Publicly oppose and vote against any efforts that seek to privatize the Postal Service in whole or in part;
  • Support H.Res. 70 and S.Res. 147, affirming that the Postal Service must remain an independent, public institution—not sold off to private corporations;
  • Protect the Universal Service Obligation, which guarantees delivery to every address in America at uniform and affordable rates;
  • Reject any restructuring plans that would degrade service, close post offices, or eliminate rural routes.

The Postal Service is enshrined in the Constitution and belongs to the people. Privatization would fracture its mission, turning a public good into a private commodity.

We urge you to stand with your rural constituents, not corporate profiteers, and take bold action to defend the USPS as a public institution.

Sign your name to demand Congress protect the Postal Service and safeguard rural America’s future.
